The renovations to Jack Yates Senior High School were approved as part of the Houston Independent School District’s 2007 Bond Program.
The most visible component of this renovation is the replacement of the existing curtain wall system on the North and South facades of the original three-story high school building. Other external improvements included select roof replacement/repairs and site lighting upgrades.
The scope included remodeling many of the existing restrooms for ADA compliance, replacement of existing plumbing fixtures, and the installation of new mechanical ventilation. As part of the District’s Science Infrastructure upgrade, all eight laboratory classrooms were completely renovated and refurbished with new laboratory set-ups, casework, and fume hoods.
In 2018, Jack Yates High School moved to a new location at 3650 Alabama.
